Oh I forgot...he smiles on demand now!

Oh I forgot to add that Gavin started smiling when I talk to him in the "mommy happy voice" the other day! It's so exciting because it's when he is wide awake and happy and not when he's falling asleep. I can't wait till the day he starts giggling!

Tummy time!

Well sorry Mimi but we didn't get a chance to post yesterday! It was a busy day. We went to our moms group in the morning and once again had a blast. I love love love going to it because it's other moms talking about their babies and giving good advice. They told me that to calm Gavin down and to get him to sleep longer we have to swaddle him. We did it for the first 2 weeks then he was always kicking out of it and wanted his hands free so we stopped. So we tried it last night and it didn't go so well so we will keep trying. Then after that we went next door to Brian's office to meet the whole office. He was full, had a clean diaper and was in a good mood so we went to show him off! Gavin even got a chance to ask his daddy's boss for a raise so mom doesn't have to go back to work right away! As you can guess in the home building business it didn't work! Even with Gavin's cute pouty face!

Last night we tried Gavin's first tummy time on his mat that Marlena gave him! He was ok for a few minutes but then got a little fussy. So we will try it a couple times everyday and eventually he will like it. Hopefully! Penelope liked it though! It has all kinds of fun toys for her to play with and she kept seeing Gavin's legs moving in his gown so she wanted to play with his feet! It was so cute! She really likes him and lets me know when he is crying. Like I don't know! Percy is getting better with him, she has been sneaking in his room sniffing everything at night when I'm feeding him. She has at least stopped hissing at me and Penelope!

Today we are cleaning up the house and maybe go to the mall to do some shopping. We shall see how he is. Aunt Kelly is coming on Saturday and we are getting excited! So now we have to think of somethings to do when she's here.

Today Gavin is 4 weeks old!

I can't believe it but he is 4 weeks old today! Now I know the meaning of "it goes by so fast" which I hate! Right now we're listening to Christmas music really loud because it calms him down and keeps him awake. Well loud music that is. I think today I am going to finish painting the letters to spell his name and hang on the wall in his room. I need to do anything to keep him awake! He could sleep all day if I let him but I need him to stay awake to space out the feedings at night. Last night he slept from 9:30pm till 2am because he was awake for a few hours before bedtime.

Penelope is crying right now because she wants to go outside but she already lost her privledge this morning by running away from the door where I can watch her. She has a tenancy to run and jump the fence. She is freaking out watching Percy outside with the birdies.

My sister Kelly comes on Saturday to meet Gavin and we are getting so excited! This will be her first time visiting us since we moved to Cali so it should be fun. Also Brian's Aunt and Uncle are visiting from Houston this weekend so we will have one big family weekend.

It might be getting better.

Well Friday we got the tree up and fully decorated yea!! Our whole house looks great. I love Christmas time but just wish that it could snow here so I could really feel the Christmas spirit! Yea I know we could drive just 45 minutes and see tons of snow but it's just not the same because I need to see it snowing here with a fire, some good wine and getting snowed in! I guess I have to hope for snow when we come home in January! Yesterday we went to Target to get Gavin his very first stocking and more Christmas decor. I love my husband because he loves to buy Christmas decor knowing that it makes me soooo happy! So we picked up a few new items to add to our collection.

On Friday night Gavin had some visitors-Mike and Marlena, Jen, Greg, Ginger & Angela. We thought he would act fussy like he has been lately at night but he was really loving all the attention! He was a very happy little boy and stayed up the whole time they were here. We had so much fun and even gave Gavin his very first "dress up fashion show" with Daddys costume collection. Then after a tough time putting him down to sleep for the night he was so nice to Mommy and slept from 11:30 till 4 am!! WOW! Then woke up at 7 am. I was so happy!

Oh what a night.....isn't that a Billy Joel song??

Wow! What a night we had last night! Gavin is either in the beginning stages of Colic or I am crazy and don't know what I'm doing. We went to Ron and Pat's for Thanksgiving and Gavin pretty much slept the whole time, so when 7 pm came around around he was finally waking up. When he woke up he started getting fussy, then crying, then screaming like someone was dying! We got him in the car and blasted the rain cd we have to help soothe him. Finally it worked and he was cool the rest of the way home. Well Brian held him when we got home and he was calm and happy for about an hour until we tried to put him down to bed. The all hell broke loose and he screamed all the way until 12:15 am! I am so not excited if this is going to be how it is for a while. It was the worst night we had with him I think. Even this morning he was still fussy. Oh help me!

Well Brian got up this morning at 4am to go do some holiday shopping! Crazy I know but there were some good deals and Gavin had already woken him up so he went. When I woke up there were presents under the tree for me! So he can go shopping at 4 am any day as far as I'm concerned! Yesterday we gave Gavin a bath and he finally smiled for us! He usually smiles as he's falling asleep but this time he was wide awake and really happy for his bath! He loves his bath time. He could stay in there all day long! I guess those moments make up for nights like last night!
Today we are finishing up putting the decor on the tree and I am going to go do a little shopping without Gavin. We will see how he does for Daddy because normally he needs me to calm him down these days, oh and I guess I am his main source for food huh? Hopefully he won't drive Brian too crazy.

Today is Gavins first Thanksgiving!!

Well today is Gavin's first Thanksgiving and I'm sure that he has no idea of it! We got up this morning and watched the Macy's parade although he slept right through it. I guess he didn't miss much with all the weird Broadway show skits and Dolly Partons boobs bouncing around huh? Later today were are going to Ron and Pats-Brian's parents-house for dinner. Brian's parents, brother and Grandmother will be there to help celebrate the holiday. It will be very good! Yummy....Pats stuffing is so good and she has a new kitchen to cook in!

We had an decent night last night because he was soooo tired from yesterday. He has discovered that Mommy arms is his favorite place and wouldn't let me put him down. He was up all day yesterday so I went and got him a sling to hold him in so I can actually get some stuff done. I think he likes it but we haven't used it much. He didn't like me trying on several of them though! I'm sure I will get the hang of putting him in and out of it.

Brian is busy looking through the ads trying to see what deals are out there for shopping tomorrow. I can't believe that some stores actually open up at 4 am! Who does that?? I will be just going back to bed after my 3:30 feeding with Gavin! I guess we will have to put our Christmas list together soon as people are starting to ask what we want.

Ok Gavin is waking up and that's my cue to stop. Later tonight or tomorrow we are putting up all our Christmas decor and tree. Our friends are coming over tomorrow night to meet Gavin and for dinner! It's going to be a good weekend!

Gavin Templeton is here!

Gavin Templeton Moore was born on Monday October 29, 2007 at 11:31pm. I was induced 2 days after my due date because I was in a lot of pain from my back because of the way he was sitting in me. We went in at 6am and was started on an IV of fluids and pitocin to bring on the contractions. I was only 2 cm dialated at this point. Well the day was long and went on and on I feel like! Around 2pm the doctor came in and broke my water--OUCH!!! Contractions started getting really strong so at that point the nurse came in and said the "happy drug guy" was next door if I was ready for the epidural. I quickly said yes!! Thank God for the epidural!!! I labored through the rest of the afternoon and into the evening with hardly any progress. Around 8 the doc said I was 7 cm so things were finally progressing. By 10:15 pm they said I was around 9 cm and close to starting to push. Well then just a few minutes later I was a full 10 and ready to go and needed to call the doctor who was still at home! He came quickly and I started to push. Brian was a great coach and gave me the encouragement that I needed to meet little Gavin! At 11:31 pm Gavin was born with a full head of hair and as happy as could be! We were so amazed and crazy in love with him.

The hospital stay was great and we got to bring him home on halloween! We are adjusting as well as could be expected. No sleep is getting to be tough but we just keep pushing along waiting for the days when he is at least sleeping 3-4 hours through the night instead of every 1 1/2 - 2 hours. However it is all worth if once I am awake enough to look at him in the morning! Brian is a big help with taking a feeding in either the morning or night! He is so good with him and has his own little song to sing to him to calm him down. Gavin loves hearing his daddys voice. I just calms him down when he is fussy.

We couldn't be happier in life and are so blessed with our happy and healthy little boy!
